Sad News

After a long illness Les Borg passed away on the 4^th of March 2008.

The Lee Valley Nature Photographers owe Les Borg ARPS a tremendous amount. He was instrumental in getting the club going, and probably did more than anyone in those early years to build up the membership, taking on the roles of both the General Secretary and Membership Secretary. Both of these jobs are essential to a club’s success, and very time consuming.

Besides being a stalwart of the LVNP, he was awarded his Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society, and became a member of the RPS Nature Group, entering their annual exhibition every year and taking a number of awards, as well as having many of his pictures accepted in this exhibition.

Last week we also lost longtime member Andrew Trott.

He was an enthusiastic member of the LVNP, taking part in exhibitions, work parties and a regular contributor to Natural Image.  His enthusiasm for what are relatively common subjects, and a constant thirst for knowledge, were tempered by a genuine love for the subject and a passion for nature photography.  Check out his ‘dragonfly in flight’ on the website.
